Dining at Amankila's restaurant within Bali's Amankila Resort in Manngis, Indonesia is pure tropical decadence. Let your taste buds swirl around delicious flavours while relaxing in a panoramic paradise, perched atop what feels like the edge of the world.

Amidst the tropical bliss of Bali's lush east coast, a world away from the usual tourist mayhem, the resort of Amankila (which justifiably translates as peaceful hill) perches mountainside, high above the Lombok Straight. Surrounding rice paddies, jungle, volcano and ocean fuse together, creating a heavenly backdrop to your experience. The resort cascades down the mountain becoming ocean-side and it's here you find Amankila's second restaurant, The Beach Club. If you wish to dine here, a buggy will help you make light of the terrain.
To enhance dining pleasure at Amankila's restaurant, seating is at the forefront of a three-tier infinity pool overlooking the marvelous coast. Dining al fresco, all tables face this amazing view, where the ocean breeze floats up the mountain to cool you down. The décor is reminiscent of an ancient roman era with white bougainvillea in sandy clay pots creating an opulent ambience to delight the eyes.
Upon seating, a chilled oversized towel, scented with heavenly frangipani is presented. Sundried tomato and yoghurt dip with crisp bread is placed for you tasting pleasure, whilst perusing the menu of Indonesian and international flavours.
In such a location the perfect drink is in order, so chill with an Aman Colada in hand. Tiny pieces of banana and coconut, with a perfectly frothy topping and hint of cinnamon make for a fancy twist on the traditional pina colada. This cocktail is completed with a chunky slice of pineapple garnishing. Now you are definitely on holiday!
I visited for lunch, but the restaurant is also open for dinner. I tried and recommend a healthy salad of sweet and sour mix, with the crunchy addition of nuts and infusion of pineapple and sweet mango flavours. Tossed together to create a taste bud party for your mouth on a hot summers day. For daytime dessert, you may want to drown your taste buds in a field of raspberries - that is, the sorbet served chilled with mint garnish. Order it. Definitely.
Recommended: For travelers who know the importance of pure tropical decadence. Amankila restaurant is a picturesque private little edge of the world, an exclusive dining experience you want to experience in this lifetime - I recommend for the bucket list.
