More recently the hotel has become a popular venue for conferences, opulence is a great theme for any event... and in the end nothing beats this level of quality. The service provided at Palazzo Versace is simply outstanding.
From the moment of check-in, through to breakfast and dinner, the staff can rarely be faulted. The buffet style breakfast is absolutely 5 star and that is always the most important test of standard to me. On the first morning you may be asked where you would prefer to sit at breakfast, along with your choice of beverage. The next morning a different staff member might ask if you'd like the same table and will offer the same beverage - that's the level of attention to making you feel comfortable.
The rooms are a private world, so quiet and peaceful. Fine fabrics and fittings combine to give a feeling of profound luxury. With high ceilings featuring bulkheads, ornate but subtle cornice works a treat. Polished limestone feature on the bathroom walls creating an ambience both dignified, natural, and suitably expensive. The turn-down amenities are better than the usual chocolate or water and you'll love the scented oil burner in room. I probably don't have to warn you of the delicious teasers from the bar fridge which all come with the usual premium tariff (compared to what you can buy from the shop next door!)
The greek key is used everywhere including the green marble bordered mosaic bathroom. Everything is chosen to be a conversation piece. The spa bath is huge, and quite lovely. The beds are the ultimate in welcoming comfort.
If you fancy lying in the sun with a cocktail poolside, a huge pool is created for this exact indulgent, with poolside packages to choose from including champane, water spritzer, chocolate dipped strawberries.
The staff go out of their way to make you feel you are special, and you'll be most impressed with is the professional consistency and generous warmth offered on every interaction. Service definitely begins with a smile here and you get the feeling whatever you asked for, they would come up with it.
Well, final verdict? Well, there are many 5 star hotels in Australia, but there is only one Versace hotel, in a class of it's own. Stepping into the Palazzo Versace is stepping back in time, to a world of opulence and class. OK you pay for what you get, but what you get is very good. Not for backpackers obviously. If you want to feel pampered and spend time in a world of quiet luxury, right on the edge of dynamic Surfers Paradise, this is the real deal.
